Each year, the National Cartoonist Society honors excellence in their profession with Divisional Awards, special honors and lifetime achievement awards, and the Reuben Award for Outstanding Cartoonist of the Year. The nominees and recipient of this profession’s highest honor, are chosen by a confidential ballot of the members.

After sweeping the nominations last year, AMS creators almost did it again. Five of the seven nominees are syndicated by Andrews McMeel. Dave Blazek (Loose Parts), Tauhid Bondia (Crabgrass), Will Henry (Wallace the Brave), Dana Simpson (Phoebe and Her Unicorn), and Mark Tatulli (Lio). 

The winner will be announced at the 80th Reuben Awards in early August.
