Barry Rigal is a many-times national champion, both in his home country of the U.K. and in the U.S., where he has lived for over 30 years. In addition to playing, teaching and writing a score of books, he has been chief Vugraph commentator for the World Bridge Federation for 15 years.
He began working with Bobby Wolff more than 20 years ago, and on Bobby’s retirement in 2025 he was delighted to take over writing the column.
About Barry Rigal
Barry Rigal was born in the U.K. with a deck of cards in his hand, and he estimates he has been playing bridge for more than 80% of his life. A multiple national champion and frequent international player while working full time as an accountant, he came to new York more than 30 years ago for love — the best decision of his life. Today, as a full-time player, teacher and writer, he is proudest of his books on technique and deception as well as having written “Card Cames for Dummies.” He has worked on Daily Bulletins and Vugraph commentary for nearly 40 years.
