On Religion

By Terry Mattingly

Terry Mattingly's father was a pastor and his mother is a language arts teacher, so it's no surprise that Terry's career has blended religion, journalism, and teaching. Mattingly has worked as a reporter and religion columnist at the Rocky Mountain News in Denver, and at the Charlotte Observer and Charlotte News, before those two newspapers merged. In 1991, Mattingly began teaching at Denver Seminary and later became a founding member of the Association for Communications and Theological Education. After a decade of leading a summer journalism program for the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities, Mattingly moved inside the Beltway to serve as director of the new Washington Journalism Center. He is now senior fellow for media and religion at The King's College in New York City, tackles the implication of religion in current events in his column, On Religion.
