Pickles Comic Strip Joins Andrews McMeel Syndication

Kansas City, MO (April 18, 2022) Andrews McMeel Syndication (AMS) will assume sales and distribution of Pickles by Brian Crane, announced Brent Bartram, Chief Strategy Officer and General Manager of AMS.  The effective date is July 1, 2022.

Earl and Opal Pickles star in the popular strip, which highlights the funny side of family and friendships through the perspective of their 50 years of marriage.  The couple shares their golden years with their 30-something daughter, Sylvia, her husband, Dan, and their beloved grandson, Nelson, as well as dog Roscoe and cat Muffin, providing ample opportunity for readers to eavesdrop and score a chuckle or two.  Whether observing the differences between genders and generations or taking a wry but sympathetic look at a more “seasoned” life, Crane’s good-natured wit and dry humor are reader favorites.

“Families recognize and delight in the inherent humor of the multigenerational interaction of the Pickles family,” said Bartram.  “Brian Crane’s keen observations present an endearing and entertaining depiction of family life, with all its charms – and its challenges.”

Appearing in more than 900 newspapers around the world and in eight comic collections, Pickles has garnered a devoted following in its more than 30 years in syndication.  Crane was honored with the Reuben Award from the National Cartoonists Society (NCS) as “Cartoonist of the Year” in 2013, and Pickles was named Best Comic Strip of the Year in 2001 and 2020 by the NCS.  The strip was previously syndicated by the Washington Post Writers Group.

The strip will also appear online on GoComics, and the feature is available for print and digital syndication internationally.  For sales inquiries, please contact Jan Flemington, jflemington@amuniversal.com.
