Andrews McMeel Syndication Celebrates 30 Years of On Religion
KANSAS
CITY, Mo. (April 11, 2018)—Andrews McMeel
Syndication (AMS) celebrates the 30-year anniversary of On Religion, a weekly column by Terry Mattingly, on April 11, 2018.
The feature, which tackles the implication of religion in current events,
appears in approximately 350 newspapers in North America. The column began in
April 1988, and AMS began syndicating it in 2011.
A
teacher, journalist, and theologian, Mattingly blends an array of genres in his
column, digging into religion news and trends through the lenses of
entertainment, politics, and American culture. While writing the feature, Mattingly
has held a number of notable positions. He has been a reporter and columnist at
the Rocky Mountain News and the Charlotte Observer; is the founder of
the Washington Journalism Center and the Council for Christian Colleges and
Universities; and has taught classes at a variety of institutions, including
the Denver Seminary, Milligan College, Palm Beach Atlantic University, and TFAS
European Journalism Institute (EJI) in Prague, Czech Republic. Mattingly is
also the founder and editor of GetReligion.org, a website that critiques the
mainstream media’s coverage of religion news.
To
mark this significant milestone, this week’s column will focus on advice about
improving religion news coverage. For additional information, please visit: http://syndication.andrewsmcmeel.com/editorial/on-religion.
