Universal Uclick Celebrates 20th Anniversary of “7-Day Menu Planner” Column

(August 7, 2015) Kansas City, Mo.  Universal Uclick is celebrating the 20th anniversary of Susan Nicholson’s 7-Day Menu Planner.

Debuting in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on August 10, 1995, and syndicated by Universal Uclick since 1998, 7-Day Menu Planner helps you free up your time by bringing practical, nutritious, budget-friendly and easy meals to the table. Written by Susan Nicholson, RDN, 7-Day Menu Planner lets you spend less time in the kitchen and more time with your family.

“As I reflect on my 20-year anniversary celebration of creating the 7-Day Menu Planner, I’m reminded and grateful for all of the positive feedback I’ve received over that time,” Nicholson said. “Mostly, readers tell me that they have saved money, time and cut down on stress because they no longer have to wonder ‘what’s for dinner?’. That feedback is what keeps me going and readers coming back!”

“Over those years, seasonings and foods that once were exotic – balsamic vinegar, garam masala and Greek yogurt are a few that come to mind – are now mainstream and in everyone’s pantries. The Menu Planner continues to try new ingredients and foods, but only those found in a “regular” supermarket. Readers appreciate that and tell me so. With the millennials’ interest in food, nutrition and health in general, the Menu Planner will continue to try new ingredients and recipes. I hope to inspire a new generation of cooks to prepare meals at home and find the joy of entertaining. At the same time, I’ll continue to answer the needs of my faithful readers,” she said.

Nicholson is a columnist, speaker and author in the area of food and nutrition. Known for her humorous, down-to-earth style and creative, healthy recipes, Nicholson has appeared on CNN, The Discovery Channel and Atlanta network television and has participated in many radio and newspaper/online outlet interviews.

Expanding on her writing abilities and knowledge of nutrition, Nicholson has authored multiple books, including Save Your Heart With Susan: Six Easy Steps to Cooking Delicious Healthy Meals in a Microwave and 7-Day Menu Planner for Dummies. Nicholson’s 7-Day Menu Planner e-books will be available as part of the Andrews McMeel Publishing/Universal Uclick Udig line beginning this fall.

Nicholson previously owned and operated a cooking school and microwave specialty store and attended École de Cuisine La Varenne in Paris. Prior to her full-time culinary endeavors, Nicholson held regional sales positions with Mead Johnson's Nutritional Division and the Marriott Corp.'s Contract Food Services Division, providing a well-rounded perspective on not only culinary arts, but also the ins and outs of food creation and distribution.

A resident of Atlanta, Nicholson is a registered dietitian nutritionist and a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Association of Food Journalists. A founding member, Nicholson is the past president of the Atlanta chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier, an esteemed worldwide society of professional women in the fields of food, hospitality and fine beverage.
