Drawn Together: Bestselling Cartoonists Jeff Kinney, Dav Pilkey, Lincoln Peirce, and Stephan Pastis Are Joined By Modern Family Star For Fund-Raising Charity Event

(June 3, 2015) Los Angeles — Four of the world’s biggest cartoonists, Jeff Kinney (Diary of a Wimpy Kid), Dav Pilkey (Captain Underpants), Stephan Pastis (Pearls Before Swine, Timmy Failure), and Lincoln Peirce (Big Nate), team up to support school libraries in the Los Angeles area. The event will be moderated by Modern Family star Julie Bowen.

Proceeds from the event go to Access Books, a charitable organization whose objective is to provide books to inner-city schools where the overwhelming majority of students are below the poverty line. Their mission is “to provide quality, high-interest books to school, classroom, and community libraries in the greater Southern California area.” Access Books has donated more than one million books and has helped to refurbish 216 libraries in need in the greater LA area.

Drawn Together: Cartoonists Benefit Los Angeles School Libraries comes to LA on Saturday, June 20 at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, 111 South Grand Avenue. Actress Julie Bowen will moderate a spirited event with Kinney, Pastis, Peirce, and Pilkey.

Doors will open at noon, and the program will begin at 1:00 p.m. Each author will discuss his inspiration and creative process for approximately 15 to 20 minutes, followed by a question-and-answer session and poster signing. Tickets are $35 each. Parking is available directly underneath the Walt Disney Concert Hall, with entry points at either Second Street or Lower Grand Avenue. You can purchase tickets at the Walt Disney Concert Hall box office or at www.drawntogetherla.org.

This event is sponsored in part by Abrams Books, Scholastic Books, HarperCollins Publishers, and Candlewick Press, which all donated 400 autographed books to be sold at the event. One-of-a-kind posters featuring artwork from each author will also be for sale, as well as event T-shirts.
