World of Wonder is a weekly feature page that uses sophisticated graphics to explore the realms of history, science,nature and technology. Creator Laurie Triefeldt, an award-winning graphic journalist, uses a reader-friendly style and beautiful, full-color illustrations to give readers mini-lessons on such diverse topics as storms, Utah, castles, monarch butterflies, Vikings and jellyfish. In 2007, World of Wonder won the National Cartoonists Society's award for best newspaper illustration. In 2006 and 2002, World of Wonder also won a Distinguished Achievement Award for Excellence in Educational Publishing from the Association of Educational Publishers. It is available in full- and half-page versions.

Laurie Triefeldt

Laurie Triefeldt was born and educated in Toronto, Canada, and is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art and the University of Windsor. During a journalism career that has spanned more than 20 years, Triefeldt has worked for The Star-Ledger, The Courier Post and The Windsor Star. She has also contributed to Gannett News Service, Newhouse News Service and United Media. Triefeldt has written and illustrated three books based on her newspaper feature: "World of Wonder," published by Kean University and The Star-Ledger; "Plants and Animals," published by Quill Driver Press; and "People and Places," also published by Quill Driver Press.
